Background

About sixty seven percent of the Zimbabwean population lives in the rural areas and only 16 percent of such has access to electricity. This leaves the rest of the population well dependent on polluting sources of energy for  domestic use such as cooking, heating and lighting. The same fate  befalls the 25 percent of the urban households that has not been electrified yet. Even those who have electricity seventy percent of them use polluting sources of energy due to erratic power supply and high electricity costs. Basically sixty percent of the Zimbabwean population depends on polluting sources of fuel contributing to the rise in carbon footprint.

In Zimbabwe, the primary sources of energy are coal (38%), wood fuel (32%), hydroelectric power (13%), petroleum fuels (12%), and bagasse (4%). Unfortunately, these sources have negative impacts on the environment, with over 40% of carbon dioxide emissions coming from fossil fuels for electricity. Additionally the issue is compounded by inconsistent power supply due to load shedding and high electricity problems.

Energy is the lifeblood of modern society, and we're making great strides towards sustainable energy goals! While energy consumption is the largest contributor to climate change, accounting for 60% of greenhouse gas emissions, we're working hard to change that. Over2.3 billion people, a third of the global, still rely on polluting of fuel like burning biomass and charcoal, but we're determined to help them transition to cleaner energy sources. Let's work to promote sustainable energy and create a brighter for all! as the Virdian Family we bel;ieve there is no such thing as waste just resources. We educate the community o how to biogas from biodegradable material such as animal manure, human excrete and kitchen waste for cooking, lighting and heating.
